Historical Significance
The 82-BM-37 Model (Old Type), introduced in 1937, marked a significant milestone in Soviet artillery as the first battalion mortar adopted by the Soviet Army. Despite its initial limited issuance, the 82-BM-37 quickly became a key asset on the battlefield due to its effectiveness and reliability. As World War II progressed, the mortar underwent several improvements, leading to the development of the 1942-1943 version and the 1945 New Type, each iteration refining its design and performance.
The original 1937 model was used extensively during the early years of World War II, playing crucial roles in significant battles such as the Battle for Moscow, the Battle of Stalingrad, and the Battle of Kursk. Important Notice
This mortar is being sold in kit form, which means it is not being sold as a registered destructive device. This is a stepped transaction, which means you pay for the entire kit upfront and we ship everything to you but the cup (receiver) and the tube (barrel). The cup, which is the firearm receiver, must be shipped to an FFL licensee within your state. This will transfer as a standard Title 1 firearm receiver, no different than a standard rifle, shotgun, or handgun. You will go to your dealer and fill out the standard 4473 over-the-counter firearms transaction record. Once the receiver is in your possession, you will need to fill out and submit a Form 1 (application to make and register an NFA firearm) to the BATFE, requesting permission to make a destructive device. Once you have received the approved Form 1 back from the ATF, you will provide us a copy of the Form 1 for our records, and then the tube/barrel will be shipped directly to you. Engraving services are available if you would like us to engrave your maker information on the cup after your Form 1 has been approved. All NFA rules apply.
The cup screws onto the base of the tube, and you now have a complete, legally registered, destructive device. The 81mm/82mm rounds that are fired out of the 82mm Model of 1937 Old Type uses a special 12-gauge shotgun blank to launch the mortar projectile out of the barrel. These 12-gauge blanks are available for purchase on our website Here. Pictures are stock images of our inventory. Unless otherwise noted, you will not be receiving the exact item shown in the pictures. The pictures are representative of the item’s general condition.Â
All Mortars Will Vary in Condition, Markings, and Components. The item you will receive will generally be in the same condition as the pictures. However, these are historic mortars and will not be the same.
