Product Overview

Restore or complete your 81mm mortar system with our newly manufactured 81mm M29A1 Mortar Cup (Receiver). This receiver is precision CNC-machined from 4041 steel and protected by a durable manganese parkerized finish.

Manufactured to military specifications, this receiver is made for proper fit, strength, and long service life. It is suitable for restoration projects, historically accurate builds, and compatible live-fire mortar systems.

Historical Significance

The U.S. M29 81mm Mortar entered service during the early 1950s as a successor to the earlier M1 mortar. The M1 traced its design lineage to the French Brandt Mle 27/31, which influenced many Western 81mm mortar systems.

The M29 refined this proven design for Cold War-era infantry service. It improved portability and handling while preserving the performance that made the 81mm mortar an important source of infantry indirect-fire support.

The M29 served during the Korean War, Vietnam War, and later Cold War period. Its reliability, sustained-fire capability, and ease of maintenance made it an important U.S. military mortar system.

The M29A1 incorporated refinements intended to improve durability and service life. The mortar cup serves as the receiver, houses the firing-pin assembly, and connects with the compatible barrel. Proper materials, machining tolerances, and surface treatment are essential to its service life.

Precision Manufacturing and Materials

This M29A1 mortar cup is CNC-machined from 4041 steel, selected for its strength, toughness, and resistance to fatigue. Each receiver is manufactured to military specifications for proper compatibility with M29A1 components.

A manganese parkerized finish provides corrosion resistance and surface durability. Its matte, non-reflective appearance is consistent with the traditional finish used on original U.S. military mortar components.
