Product Overview

This Restored Soviet 82-BM-37 Model 1942/43 Live-Fire Mortar Kit combines original military components with newly manufactured critical assemblies.

The completed kit preserves the appearance and mechanical character of the original mortar while providing a functional live-fire system.

Historical Significance

The 82-BM-37 was an important Soviet medium mortar during World War II. Known for its rugged construction and dependable operation, it provided Soviet infantry units with portable indirect-fire support throughout the war.

The BM-37 improved upon the earlier BM-36 design. Major changes included:

  • Round baseplate
  • Revised traverse and elevation controls
  • Simplified sighting equipment
  • Spring-loaded shock absorbers on the bipod

The shock-absorbing bipod helped reduce movement between shots and limited the amount of adjustment required after firing.

The Soviet 82mm caliber also allowed the BM-37 to use certain captured 81mm mortar ammunition. Soviet 82mm ammunition was too large to fit into the smaller 81mm bores used by opposing forces.

The Model 1942/43 configuration reflects wartime production changes intended to simplify manufacture and maintain reliable battlefield performance.

Important Legal Notice

This mortar is sold in kit form and is not sold as a registered destructive device. This is a stepped transaction. The buyer pays for the complete kit upfront, and we can ship all components except the receiver (cup) and barrel (tube).

The receiver must be shipped to an FFL licensee in the buyer’s state. It transfers as a standard Title 1 firearm receiver. The buyer must complete the required ATF Form 4473 through the receiving dealer.

After taking possession of the receiver, the buyer must submit ATF Form 1, Application to Make and Register a Firearm, requesting approval to make a destructive device.

Once the approved Form 1 is received, the buyer must provide us with a copy for our records. We can then ship the barrel directly to the buyer.

Engraving services are available if you would like us to engrave your required maker information on the receiver after your Form 1 has been approved.

Do not possess or control the compatible receiver and barrel at the same time unless the resulting mortar is properly registered or you are otherwise appropriately licensed under federal law. All NFA rules apply.

The receiver screws onto the base of the barrel to create the complete, legally registered destructive device.

Compatible 81mm and 82mm training projectiles use a special 12-gauge launching blank. Compatible blanks are available for purchase on our website.

See our Terms and Conditions for additional information.
