Step into the history of military engineering with our Restored 82mm Yugoslavian M31/46 Live-Fire Mortar Kit. Believed to be of Yugoslavian origin, this mortar is based on the French Brandt Mle 27/31 design but incorporates distinct regional modifications.

Restored and fully functional for live fire, this mortar offers collectors, historians, military enthusiasts, and qualified operators a unique example of heavy mortar development.

Historical Significance

The Brandt Mle 27/31 was an influential mortar design that helped establish the standard layout for many medium and heavy mortars developed during the 20th century. The design was adopted, copied, and modified by military forces around the world because of its reliability and effectiveness.

The M31/46 reflects adaptations believed to have been made for Yugoslavian service. It retains the main features of the original French design while incorporating several distinct changes.

Unique Features

The 82mm M31/46 differs from the original Brandt Mle 27/31 in two important ways:

  1. Single-Socket Baseplate: The M31/46 baseplate has a single socket for the receiver, providing a simple and stable mounting arrangement.
  2. Internal Firing-Pin Arrangement: The receiver uses an internal firing-pin design that differs from the arrangement found on other Brandt-style mortar variants.

Restored Condition

  • Professionally restored to better-than-original condition
  • Original components combined with careful restoration work
  • Fully functional for live-fire use
  • Suitable for collections, historical displays, educational programs, and qualified live-fire operation

Quality and Craftsmanship

The barrel of the 82mm M31/46 Mortar is machined from 4130 chrome-moly cold-drawn seamless steel. This material provides the strength, durability, and wear resistance required for a dependable live-fire mortar barrel.

Important Notice

This mortar is sold in kit form and is not sold as a registered destructive device. This is a stepped transaction. The buyer pays for the complete kit upfront, and we can ship all components except the receiver (cup) and barrel (tube).

The receiver must be shipped to an FFL licensee in the buyer’s state. It transfers as a standard Title 1 firearm receiver. The buyer must complete the required ATF Form 4473 through the receiving dealer.

After taking possession of the receiver, the buyer must submit ATF Form 1, Application to Make and Register a Firearm, requesting approval to make a destructive device.

Once the approved Form 1 is received, the buyer must provide us with a copy for our records. We can then ship the barrel directly to the buyer.

Engraving services are available if you would like us to engrave your required maker information on the receiver after your Form 1 has been approved.

All NFA rules apply.

The receiver screws onto the base of the barrel to create the complete, legally registered destructive device.

The 81mm and 82mm projectiles used with this mortar require a special 12-gauge launching blank. Compatible blanks are available for purchase on our website.
