Historical Significance
The 8cm Granatwerfer 34, commonly abbreviated GrW.34, was the standard medium mortar of the German Wehrmacht Heer throughout World War II. Introduced in the 1930s during Germany’s military rearmament program, the GrW.34 became one of the most widely produced and effective infantry mortar systems of the war, with over 75,000 units manufactured between 1934 and 1945.
Widely respected for its reliability, accuracy, and rugged battlefield performance, the GrW.34 served in every major theater of World War II, including the Eastern Front, North Africa, Italy, France, and Western Europe. The design was heavily influenced by the French Brandt mortar system but refined by German engineers for improved manufacturing precision and battlefield efficiency.
At the center of the mortar system is the cup/receiver assembly, which houses the firing mechanism and interfaces directly with the mortar barrel. Proper machining tolerances, metallurgy, and thread geometry are critical for reliable operation.

Each unit is fitment-tested with original German GrW.34 barrels and firing pins, as well as newly manufactured components produced by DestructiveDevices.com prior to shipment to verify proper operation and compatibility.
Minor cosmetic imperfections or handling marks may be present due to fitment testing procedures. These are normal and reflect the quality-control process each receiver undergoes before shipment.
Receivers are currently shipped in raw unfinished steel with a protective oil coating applied to prevent oxidation and rust during storage and transport. Upon request, receivers may also be primed or painted prior to shipment.
Please note: The firing pin and threaded firing pin plug are not included with the receiver but are available separately as newly manufactured components.

Important Notice
If you have purchased a cup IE the "Receiver," a barrel cannot be sent to you until an approved form 1 is received. It is not being sold as a registered destructive device. The cup, which is the receiver, must be shipped to an FFL licensee within your state. The cup will transfer as a standard Title 1 firearm receiver, no different than a standard rifle, shotgun, or handgun. You will go to your dealer and fill out the standard 4473 over-the-counter firearms transaction record. Once the receiver is in your possession, you must fill out and submit Form 1 (application to make and register an NFA firearm) to the BATFE, requesting permission to make a destructive device. Once you have received the approved Form 1 back from the ATF, you will provide us a copy of the Form 1 for our records. You will then be able to purchase the barrel.
Must ship to an FFL license, as a Title 1 firearm receiver (no NFA transfer tax or paperwork required to go to FFL dealer). Be advised that it is a violation of ATF/NFA rules to possess a compatible 8cm cup (receiver) and an 8cm tube (barrel) at the same time without an ATF approved Form 1 or Form 4 for the 8cm mortar (or have a Type 10 Federal Firearms License) a barrel cannot be bought until an approved form 1 is received.
